Donald Trump policy advisor Stephen Miller grew visibly frustrated with a reporter during a tense exchange Monday over the administration’s immigration enforcement priorities – and accused the journalist of dodging his question.
The clash began when the reporter pressed the Trump aide about whether it was the best use of government resources to target mothers of young children for deportation.
Instead of answering directly, Miller turned the question around.
“Do you yourself have an opinion on the subject?” Miller asked, before launching into a hypothetical about how many undocumented immigrants should be allowed to stay. “Let’s just pick an even number of, say, 10 million illegal aliens…what percentage do you think we should let stay here?
The reporter again resisted answering Miller’s question, saying he was “not trying to do a game show” with him. That’s when Miller accused the reporter of avoiding the issue, according to a video of the moment that unfolded Monday.

“You don’t want to answer the question because you know the answer is obvious,” Miller said. “Everyone that Biden let in has to go home.”
Miller went on to defend the Trump administration’s hardline immigration crackdown, which is expected to intensify as the president is scheduled to sign a new set of executive orders targeting illegal immigration. He said while ICE would focus primarily on “high-threat criminal aliens,” he added that the broader goal remained mass removals.
“We’re going to use the full force and power of the federal government to get them all home,” Miller said. “Many will choose to leave voluntarily…but we are not going to ask taxpayers to subsidize the presence of a single illegal alien in this country.”
