MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow warned viewers Thursday night they wouldn’t take her at her word — they’d just have to see it.
Maddow was referring to an advertisement hawking President Donald Trump’s meme coin.
“Have dinner with President Trump,” the ad stated. “The most Exclusive Invitation in the World. Only for the Top 220 $Trump Meme Coin Holders.”

The ad features an illustration of a chiseled Trump in his signature suit and tie, pointing a finger at the reader.
“Okay, I have to show you something. It’s not like a scary thing. I’m not saying like, ‘Oh, this is going to be gory, you might want to look away.’ It’s just that I could try to describe what you’re about to see, but if I just try to describe it, you won’t believe me. It won’t prepare you. You just have to see it. Ready? Here it is!” Maddow told viewers.
After showing the generous rendition of the president, Maddow quipped, “Okay, first of all, who’s that guy?”
“Is that what they think,” she began, unable to hold back a laugh. “Is that what they think Donald Trump looks like? Yeah. Look at that big hand. I don’t think that’s —”
She trailed off.
Maddow mocked the image more, telling viewers they can dine with the president and his “big hand” if they buy his meme coin, which the host described as a “thing Donald Trump advertises that makes him money.”
“If lots of people invest in it, he personally makes that money. It’s just personal income for him—while he is serving as President of the United States,” she said, pointedly.
Maddow joined other critics, noting the offer is essentially a pay-to-play scheme that gives Trump money rather than a political fundraiser.
“The way this works is: the more of Donald Trump’s coin thing you buy — which is essentially just a way for you to give him money— the higher up the leaderboard you rise. And if you get all the way to the top of the leaderboard, then you get to join the President of the United States for a private dinner at his club.”
Another page on the online invitation features a separate flattering take on the president’s physique.
“Boy, his hand looks big there, too,” Maddow remarked.
She flagged the hypocrisy of the dinner, which anyone from anywhere can buy, coinciding with Trump’s attorney general investigating the Democratic fundraising powerhouse Act Blue for alleged unlawful contributions from foreign nationals.
“Really?” Maddow scolded.
