Sen. Chuck Schumer is finally earning some praise for his decision to cave on passing the House Republicans’ bill to keep the federal government open.
However, it’s not the sort of praise that will likely be appreciated by Democratic voters.
Writing on his Truth Social page, Trump praised Schumer for agreeing to vote for the package to keep the government open despite the fact that it does nothing to rein in Trump or Elon Musk in their quest to take hatchets to federal agencies.

“Congratulations to Chuck Schumer for doing the right thing — Took ‘guts’ and courage!” wrote Trump. “The big Tax Cuts, L.A. fire fix, Debt Ceiling Bill, and so much more, is coming. We should all work together on that very dangerous situation. A non pass would be a Country destroyer, approval will lead us to new heights. Again, really good and smart move by Senator Schumer. This could lead to something big for the USA, a whole new direction and beginning!”
Schumer’s decision to cave on the government funding package has sparked anger among many House Democrats and grassroots Democratic voters who had insisted that any government funding deal include stripping Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency from having the power to slash federal spending without any congressional authorization.
