A woman interrupted Rep. Glenn Ivey’s (D-MD) town hall event this week to complain that Democrats were conducting “business as usual” while “the house is on fire.”
NBC’s Syedah Asghar shared a video of the woman on Tuesday on the X social media platform.
“You’re talking about voting, the House is on fire!” the woman yelled. “It is not business as usual. It’s not….this is bulls—!”
Asghar said Ivey’s staff checked the woman for a medical crisis.

Another person who attended the town hall agreed with the woman.
“I was there. She was right,” Khori Johnson replied on X. “Forget decorum. Questions asked about immediate concerns were met with 2026 election talk. We all know we need more Dems to win in 2026. But many people, myself included, will not make it to the voting booth due to the hardships we’re enduring now.”
