An Arizona Democrat found no friends late Tuesday as she denounced the Trump administration over its mass deportation effort, which mistakenly resulted in a Maryland father being deported to El Salvador.
Rep. Yassamin Ansari, who was elected to Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District in November, joined “The Ingraham Angle” on Fox News with host Laura Ingraham, an avowed ally of President Donald Trump.
And the two did not see eye to eye.
“I’m not here to really advocate for one person. That needs to happen in court,” said Ansari, referring to Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national who was living in Maryland with his wife, a U.S. citizen, and children, and who was wrongfully deported to El Salvador last month.

A longstanding court order barred his removal to the country due to concerns that he could face persecution if returned. The Trump administration has insisted he is an MS-13 gang member, which his attorneys vehemently deny.
As Ansari tried to tell Fox News viewers that “no evidence has ever been presented in court” to back up the claims, Ingraham cut her off and yelled at the congresswoman.
“You went to El Salvador. What are you talking about?” Ingraham interjected. “You went to El Salvador! Now you’re saying it’s not about him? Of course it’s about him.
Ansari pushed back that she visited the country due to concerns about due process. But Ingraham wasn’t having it.
“You went to El Salvador for a political stunt. And now you’re saying it’s not about him. Well, who’s it about then?” Ingraham demanded to know.
Ansari acknowledged her concern involves Abrego Garcia’s case, but said she’s concerned about the rule of law, calling it a bipartisan issue.
“It transcends partisan politics,” said Ansari. “That’s why a conservative-leaning Supreme Court has said that Donald Trump must ‘facilitate’ the return of this individual. This is very dangerous. We are turning into an authoritarian country. And there are Americans who are all across the political spectrum that are deeply concerned about this.”
Ansari said her office has received more calls about Abrego Garcia’s case than any other issue, followed by tariffs and Trump’s economic policy.
“Yeah. I’m sure none of that’s robocalls,” Ingraham retorted.
Ansari tried to share the results of a town hall she held recently, but Ingraham wouldn’t hear it.
“All right, take a breath,” the Fox News host said.
