A House Republican from New York blasted a North Carolina Democrat on Monday, accusing her of denying his repeated requests to co-sponsor legislation in a scheme to boost his Democratic opponent.
Rep. Marc Molinaro is running for re-election against Josh Riley in the Hudson Valley. Molinaro took to X on Monday to share screenshots of two emails from June in which he asked to be added as a cosponsor to H.R. 4121, the Right to Contraception Act.
But on Monday, Molinaro went on the offensive and accused Rep. Kathy Manning of rejecting his requests for partisan gain.
“I was the first Republican to support the Right to Contraception Act. Shame on @KathyManningNC who DENIED my MANY requests to cosponsor just so @JoshRileyUE could spin more lies in his desperate campaign built on lies. #ANewLow,” he wrote.

Molinaro narrowly defeated Riley in 2022 by about 5,000 votes.
Manning shot back on X: “Hey Marc, does this mean you’ll sign the petition to bring my Right to Contraception Act up for a vote? Or do you not want the bill to make it to the House Floor?”
Manning told Axios in a statement that Democrats launched a discharge petition in June to try to force a vote on the legislation.
“Despite repeated invitations to my colleagues across the aisle, not a single House Republican has signed my petition,” she said.
Manning added that if the New York Republican is “serious” about protecting access to federally approved birth control, he needs to “sign the petition.”
