Roger Stone, a longtime adviser to President Donald Trump, suggested that Secretary of State Marco Rubio might be the Republican pick for the next president instead of Vice President JD Vance.
“Obviously, many people believe that JD Vance will succeed Donald Trump as president,” Stone told conspiracy theorist Alex Jones on Thursday. “There’s a great tradition in our party of hegemony.”
“That’s why we nominated Senator Bob Dole, kind of after his sell date,” he continued. “And it would be logical to say that JD Vance, to the extent that there is a front runner.”
“But more and more talk about Marco Rubio for president, interestingly, just at the grassroots level, people who would never have been for him before now saying, maybe this is the guy.”

Stone also gave a nod to Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard as a possible Republican pick for president.
In 2015, the Trump adviser launched a political action committee to oppose Rubio’s presidential bid.
