MSNBC’s Ryan Nobles on Thursday said that congressional Republicans have made things more difficult for themselves as they move to try to pass President Donald Trump’s budget package.
After Republicans in the House of Representatives successfully passed a blueprint that had been passed in the United States Senate, Nobles outlined the tight window the party now has to get its work done.
“So the question is what comes next?” Nobles began. “Because the Republicans have put themselves in a bit of a bind here, and that they’ve put in a few self-imposed deadlines. They’ve added a raising the debt ceiling as part of this package and they also have a significant amount of funding for President Trump’s mass deportation plan, which is running out of money and needs that funding as soon as possible. So they’re going to have to get right to it when they return from a two-week long spring break recess.”

In addition to the aforementioned issues, Nobles said that the GOP still had to iron out a lot more details ahead of the budget’s final passage.
“They want to extend the Trump tax cuts to the tune of $4.5 trillion,” he added. “They want to find somewhere between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion in spending cuts. And they want to do it all without blowing a massive hole in the deficit. That’s no easy task, especially if you’re promising no cuts to Medicaid.”
