Military contractors pitched a novel way to facilitate mass deportations — simply designate part of a Central American maximum security prison as U.S. territory, Politico reported Friday afternoon.
Former Blackwater CEO Erik Prince and a group of defense contractors unveiled their plan to Donald Trump’s White House on how they could help greatly expand deportations to El Salvador, according to the report.
The Trump administration has deported hundreds of migrants to El Salvador, primarily targeting individuals they say are criminals. Last month, more than 200 people the administration said were members of the violent Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang and 22 suspected MS-13 members were deported to the country to be detained in its notorious mega prison.

The new proposal also targets “criminal illegal aliens” and seeks to circumvent U.S. immigration laws by designating part of the prison as U.S. territory. It wasn’t immediately clear if the White House was receptive to the plan, which the report noted could prove highly “lucrative” for Prince and his team.
