A new report from Axios highlights the large number of white-collar criminals in recent weeks who have received pardons from President Donald Trump.
In fact, Axios goes so far as to proclaim that “there’s never been a better time to be a white-collar crook,” while then highlighting some particularly egregious pardons, including that of former Nikola Motors CEO Trevor Milton, whose “most egregious act may have been sharing a video that purported to show a fully functional prototype, whereas the truck actually was rolling down a small hill.”
Axios also pointed to the pardon of Carlos Watson, the co-founder of the defunct Ozy Media company, as well as the co-founders of the firm BitMEX “who had violated the Bank Secrecy Act by failing to implement AML and KYC procedures.”

All of this led Axios to conclude that “Elizabeth Holmes, Sam Bankman-Fried, and Charlie Javice should be sitting by the phone” waiting for pardons of their own.
These are far from the only controversial pardons Trump has issued, as on his first day in office he granted them to hundreds of rioters who stormed the United States Capitol building on his behalf on January 6th, 2021, including those who had been found guilty of assaulting police officers.
