President Donald Trump proved successful in the 2024 election by convincing young men he was their guy. But that has changed less than 100 days into his second term, recent polls show.
MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace began her second hour by citing Peter Tuchman, known as the “Einstein of Wall Street,” who spoke to New York Magazine, stating that Trump has lost trust among the financial world.
“It’s like, if we’re going out and I cheat on you, we may get back together, but are you ever gonna really trust me again? F— no,” Tuchman said. “Absolutely not, because it’ll always be that voice in the back of your head, what they’re capable of. Now we know what he’s capable of.”
Economic issues are contributing to his loss in support, particularly among young men, Wallace said.

She cited a Harvard Institute of Politics poll, which found that 47% of young men (18-30) believe Trump will harm the economy. But in January, 62% of young men were excited about Trump over the economy.
Trump’s general approval with young men is just at 34% while 59% disapprove. In the recent survey, 40% of young men said that they’re “worse off” under Trump.
“It’s shaky. Shaky for real reasons,” former Republican strategist Tim Miller said about the so-called “manosphere.”
“Real life has intervened,” he added. “You know, there’s this guy, Andrew Schultz, who’s one of the manosphere comedians, who was saying earlier this week that he moved from being a Democrat to supporting Trump because Trump lets people say what they want. And Trump also gets a word that I can’t say, you know, has sex with women, I guess, on cable news, and that he likes that about him. And, you know, those are reasons to support somebody in decadent times and easy times, right?”
When things are going well economically, Miller said that people have the luxury to say, “I want the guy who’s more of a player, and I want the guy who’s cool and lets me say the ‘R-word’ or whatever. And that starts to change real quick when you’re also the type of guy who, you know, maybe if you’re in your 20s or 30s are day trading or are involved in the market … you’re seeing the insanity of the last three months, it might be a wake up call to you that maybe, you know, the ability to say cuss words is not as important as that.”
Responding to the New York Magazine quote, Miller said that if Trump is like the cheating girlfriend, “well, [s]he’s been cheating on you since the ’80s. So, like, why did you just realize it this week?”
