The co-hosts of “The View” bashed Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth on Tuesday after another Signal scandal.
It was discovered Hegseth shared sensitive military information with his wife and brother on the app Signal. The news comes a month after Hegseth and other top administration officials were part of a Signal chat discussing military strikes on the Houthis in Yemen.
Alyssa Farah Griffin, a former White House communications director during President Donald Trump’s first administration, recalled that Hegseth was “always underqualified for this role.” She said she respected him for his service, “but he needs to step aside.”

“Yes, he served our country in uniform, but did not have the years of experience it takes to run this big of a department, and the cracks are showing,” she added. “And there are going to be more stories like this. And what I would say to people, whether they support the president or don’t, national security is above politics and we should want to have the most qualified person in this role.”
Sara Haines asked why someone would talk about military actions with their family members.
“The only thing that could come to a reasonable mind is you’re trying to say, ‘Look at my big job,” said Haines. “If you’re looking for something like that, you should probably be a press secretary.”
Co-host Sunny Hostin interrupted, saying Hegseth could go back to Fox News.
“The big concern was his lack of judgment and his qualifications,” Haines said about Hegseth. “And I, like you said, the cracks are showing. This is an instance where he’s trying to say everyone is a hoaxster, and this is fake news. You have to discern between people coming after you for a nothing burger and national security. What he’s holding onto puts people’s lives at stake.”
