‘Big win’: Critic cheers as Trump loses in court over DOGE access to Social Security data
President Donald Trump lost another case, this time in a vote from the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Democracy Docket chief Marc Elias called it a “BIG win” for their ongoing lawsuits against the administration.
When he came into office, Trump signed an executive order establishing the Department of Government Efficiency, tasking tech billionaire Elon Musk with finding staff and budget cuts. Among the controversies is that his team was able to access personal information for Americans through the records at the Social Security Administration.

A U.S. District Court judge issued a temporary restraining order against the Musk team, and the administration sued to stop the order.
In its decision Wednesday, nine judges ruled against the Trump administration.
Elias noted, “Data will remain out of Musk/ DOGE’s hands.”
